Police charge man after aggravated burglary in Hampton East

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested a 25-year-old man this morning following an aggravated burglary and serious assault in Hampton East on 27 January.

Police have been told a man and woman were walking past an apartment on Scarborough Drive just after 8pm.

It is alleged a man at the property became involved in a verbal altercation with the pair before returning inside.

The man and woman then entered the apartment and allegedly forced entry to the victim's residence where they seriously assaulted him.

A 44-year-old Hampton East man was taken to hospital in a critical condition and since been released.

A Dingley Village man has been charged with aggravated burglary and intentionally cause serious injury.

He is expected to face Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

A 29-year-old Hampton East woman will be interviewed at a later date.
