Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad have charged a man following an alleged arson attack in Glenroy yesterday.
The charges follow an incident where it will be alleged the man threw a flammable substance over a woman before igniting it at outside a property on View Street about 6.40am.
A 35-year-old Glenroy woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she remains in a critical but stable condition.
The parties are known to each other.
A 41-year-old Glenroy man was arrested at the scene.
He has since been charged with attempted murder and has been remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 7 November.
