Police Charge Man After Beveridge Hit-run

Wallan Highway Patrol officers have charged a man following an alleged hit-run collision in Beveridge earlier this year.

It is alleged a white truck was travelling on the wrong side of the road on Minton Street, where it collided with a Nissan Navara Utility just before 3pm on Monday, 9 June.

The truck driver allegedly stopped at the scene and spoke to the occupants of the Nissan, then fled in the truck.

The rear passenger of the Nissan, a 17-year-old Wallan girl, was taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver, an 18-year-old Aberfeldie man, and the front passenger, a 51-year-old Wallan woman were both taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested the alleged truck driver, a 39-year-old Wallan man on 31 July. He was released pending summons while the investigation continued.

The 39-year-old has now been charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury and failing to stop after a serious injury collision.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 16 December.
