Police Charge Man After Brighton Assault

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an assault in Brighton earlier this week.

Police will allege a 48-year-old man was assaulted by another man outside a venue on the Esplanade about 11pm on Saturday, 3 May.

The Bentleigh man remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

It is understood the second man initially fled the scene.

A 39-year-old man was arrested at an Altona North address on Tuesday, 6 May.

The Altona North man has since been charged with common law assault, recklessly cause injury and other assault related offences.

He has been remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 13 May.
