A man wanted by Queensland Police has been charged following a police pursuit on the New South Wales and Queensland border.
About 12.20pm on Tuesday (4 May 2021), a black Mazda sedan evaded police at Goondiwindi, Queensland, approximately 10km north of Boggabilla.
The vehicle continued across the border into NSW at high speed.
Officers attached to New England Police District were alerted to the pursuit and sighted the vehicle travelling on the incorrect side of the road, about 1km north of Boggabilla.
It's alleged the vehicle was driven at a police vehicle who took evasive action to avoid a collision.
As the vehicle drove away, a pursuit was initiated through Boggabilla and onto the Bruxner Highway, before the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later, police located the vehicle stopped on the road with flames coming from it.
Local police, assisted by Queensland Police Service, canvassed the area and located the driver nearby.
The 34-year-old man was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
He was taken to Goondiwindi Hospital for treatment to a knee injury where he remains under police guard.
The man was issued a Court Attendance Notice for police pursuit drive manner dangerous, receiving property stolen outside NSW, two counts of goods in custody suspected stolen, and use Class C vehicle using misleading numberplate.
He was also charged with outstanding matters in Queensland.
The man is due to appear before Boggabilla Local Court on Wednesday 7 July 2021.
