Police charge man after death of Chris Habiyakare - Sunshine West

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man as part of their investigation into the death of Chris Habiyakare in Sunshine North last year.

An 18-year-old Ascot Vale man was arrested in Docklands this morning.

He has been charged with murder and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court tonight.

A 21-year-old Tarneit man and a 20-year-old Keilor Downs man were also arrested in Tarneit and Keilor Downs this afternoon.

The Keilor Downs man has since been released from custody and the Tarneit man is continuing to assist police with their enquiries.

The arrests and charge relate to the death of 24-year-old Chris Habiyakare at his Sunshine North home on 24 August, 2021.

Emergency services were called to a property on Essex Street following reports of an injured man about 8.35pm.

Paramedics provided medical treatment, but Chris died at the scene.

On 30 November, 2021 two men were arrested by Homicide Squad detectives in relation to this matter and both were subsequently charged with murder.
