A man has been charged after allegedly failing to stop for a breath test on the state's Mid North Coast yesterday.
About 7pm (Friday 12 February 2021), officers from Mid North Coast Traffic and Highway Patrol were conducting stationary random breath testing on Gregory Street, South West Rocks, when they signalled for a black Holden Commodore to stop.
It's alleged the driver, a 31-year-old man, failed to stop and continuing driving.
Police followed the Holden to a shopping centre car park and approached the vehicle.
The driver allegedly refused to undergo a breath test and as officers attempted to arrest him, he became confrontational.
After refusing to comply with police, OC spray was deployed, and he was arrested.
He was taken to Kempsey Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis, which returned an alleged reading of 0.207.
He was charged with refuse or fail to submit to breath test, two counts of resist officer in execution of duty and high range PCA. His licence was suspended.
The South West Rocks man was granted conditional bail to appear at Kempsey Local Court on Monday 22 February 2021.
