Police charge man after fatal collision in Ballarat

Major Collison Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after a fatal collision in Ballarat in April.

A 45-year-old Golden Point man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, drive in manner dangerous, careless driving and fail to give way to a pedestrian.

It will be alleged a female pedestrian was struck by a garbage truck while crossing Doveton Street, at the intersection of Eyre Street, about 8.35am on 16 April.

The pedestrian, a 61-year-old Wendouree woman, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital where she later passed away.

The man has been bailed to face Ballarat Magistrates' Court on 18 August.
