Police charge man after fatal traffic crash at Townsville

Police have charged a man in relation to a fatal crash on the Bruce Highway at Mutarnee on June 23.

It will be alleged around 12.15am, a Toyota Landcruiser collided with a stationary Mazda 3.

The Mazda 3 then allegedly crashed into a Mitsubishi Lancer, which subsequently collided with another four-wheel-drive.

The sole occupant of the Mazda 3, a 26-year-old Bushland Beach woman, died at the scene.

A 23-year-old Atherton man and driver of the Mitsubishi Lancer also died at the scene as a result of the incident.

Following Forensic Crash investigations, the driver of the Landcruiser involved in the first collision, a 31-year-old Mundingburra man, was charged today (August 17) with two counts of manslaughter and one count of disqualified driving.

He has been remanded in custody, to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on November 25.
