A man has been charged after firearms, drugs and explosives were seized during the search of a property in the state's central west.
In March 2020, detectives attached to Western Region Enforcement Squad Chifley re-commenced Strike Force Drupe to investigate the theft of firearms from the state's central west.
Following extensive enquiries, detectives – assisted by officers attached to Chifley Police District and the Police Dog Squad - executed a search warrant at a property on Springvale Lane, Mount Collins, near Cowra about 4pm Wednesday (26 August 2020).
During the search, officers allegedly located and seized 11 firearms, a butterfly knife, ammunition, explosives, a motorbike believed to be stolen from Queensland, and cannabis plants allegedly found growing in a hydroponic set-up.
Police will allege two of the firearms were stolen from a home at Orange in May 2020.
A 33-year-old man was arrested and taken to Cowra Police Station where he was charged with cultivate prohibited plant and possess shortened firearm without authority.
He was bail refused to appear before Bathurst Local Court yesterday (Thursday 27 August 2020) and was formally refused bail to appear before Cowra Local Court on Wednesday 9 September 2020.
Investigations continue.
