Police charge man after Glenorchy firearms incident

Police have charged a 38-year-old Glenorchy man following a firearms incident on Chapel Street in Glenorchy last night.

The man has been charged with several firearm and assault offences and will appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court later this morning.

Police will allege the man discharged a firearm in the direction of several people around 8pm.

Police will allege this incident was targeted; however, police remain concerned that the incident occurred in a public area. Subsequently, the police response last night was immediate with officers from multiple areas responding. Attending officers quickly took control of the scene, which lead to the man being arrested shortly after the incident.

No one was injured in the incident.
