Police Charge Man After Officer Assaulted - Bondi

A man will face court after a police officer was allegedly assaulted in the Sydney's east today.

About 9.30am today (Friday 10 July 2026), police were patrolling Bondi Beach as a part of Operation

Shelter, when they were alerted by members of the public about a man who was acting erratically and allegedly screaming at traffic on Campbell Parade, Bondi Beach.

Police requested NSW Ambulance to attend for a mental health assessment.

While waiting for NSW Ambulance, the man, aged 43, attempted to leave. He allegedly became violent towards police and during the struggle, the man allegedly bit a Sergeant on his leg.

He was arrested and taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail attend Bail Division Court 7 tomorrow, (Saturday 11 July 2026).
