Police charge man after police officer struck by stolen motorbike

Detectives have today charged a 22 year old Bridgewater man after a police officer was struck by a stolen motorbike on Goodwins Road, Clarendon Vale yesterday evening.

The man has been charged with aggravated assault, evade police (aggravated circumstances), motor vehicle stealing, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified. He remains in police custody and is due to appear in court later this afternoon.

A 27 year old Gagebrook man, who police will allege was the pillion passenger on the motorbike at the time of the incident, remains in police custody while investigations continue and appropriate charges in respect to him are determined.

The investigation is ongoing and police would like to hear from anyone with information that could assist.
