Police charge man after police pursuit - Strathfield

Police have charged a man following a pursuit through Strathfield earlier this month.

About 6.30pm on Friday 18 December 2020, officers from Burwood Police Area Command attempted to conduct a Random Breath Test on the driver of a white Audi station wagon on Everton Road in Strathfield.

When police attempted to confirm the identity of the male driver, he allegedly accelerated away, causing an officer to jump back into oncoming traffic to avoid being hit.

A pursuit commenced, but it was terminated a short time later due to the driver's dangerous manner of driving.

About 1pm on Tuesday 29 December 2020, investigations into the alleged driver's identity led police to a home on Juno Parade in Greenacre, where officers arrested a 27-year-old man.

Police will allege the man resisted arrest and assaulted an officer.

He was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with;

• Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously

• Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period

• Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous

• Resist officer in execution of duty

• Use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention

• Assault officer in execution of duty

The man was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 30 December 2020).
