Police Charge Man After Search Of Home At Narromine

A man will face court today charged with firearm, weapons and drug-related offences following a search of a home in the state's central west yesterday.

About 5.30pm (Wednesday 21 February 2024), officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attended a home on Moss Avenue, Narromine, and served a Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO), and Weapon Prohibited Order (WPO) on a man.

Officers commenced a search of the home, where they allegedly located and seized, firearms parts, a rifle, a revolver, a pistol, a paintball gun, ammunition, nunchaku, cannabis, cannabis seeds, methylamphetamine, GHB, suboxone strips, and unauthorised prescribed medication.

The 44-year-old man was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with:

  • possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority
  • possess unregistered firearm not pistol/prohibited firearm (x2)
  • purchase or obtain paintball marker without permit
  • possess unauthorised pistol
  • possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority (x4)
  • possess prohibited drug (x3)
  • possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit
  • use, supply stolen firearm or firearm part, and
  • breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Thursday 22 February 2024).
