Police charge man after shooting incident in Risdon Vale 17 June

Detectives from Bellerive CIB have charged a 24-year-old Risdon Vale man with offences relating to a shooting incident on Waratah Road, Risdon Vale around 1:30pm yesterday.

Several police resources responded, and the man was taken into custody a short time later. The firearm used has been recovered.

The man was detained in custody and will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court today.

No-one was injured during the incident, and it is alleged the people involved knew each other.

It is timely to remind people that there is a permanent firearms amnesty in Tasmania, which means that people who voluntarily surrender firearms to police will not be charged in relation to possessing firearms.
