Police charge man after stabbing at Miranda

A man has been charged following a stabbing in the Sutherland Shire yesterday.

About 11.30am (Wednesday 4 January 2023), emergency services were called to Kiora Road, Miranda, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command attended and located a 40-year-old man with serious injuries, which appeared to be consistent with stab wounds.

The man was treated by NSW ambulance paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A crime scene was established as inquiries commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A short time later, police arrested a 36-year-old man nearby, who was taken to Sutherland Police Station.

The man was charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder, and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was bail refused to appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 5 January 2023).

The men are known to each other.
