Police Charge Man After Stabbing - Burwood PAC

A man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged stabbing in Sydney Southwest yesterday.

About 10.30am on Monday 1 April 2024, emergency services were called to the intersection of Lyons Road and Gipps Street, Drummoyne, following reports of a stabbing.

On arrival, officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command located a 61-year-old man with a stab wound to his upper body.

The injured man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

Police established a crime scene and detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, officers arrested a 26-year-old man at a Parramatta address about 1.50pm today (Tuesday 2 April 2024), before he was taken to Merrylands Police Station.

During a search of the residence, officers located and seized an unauthorised firearm and weapons.

He was charged with wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm (DV), assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), possess unregistered firearm-pistol, possess unauthorised pistol and not keep firearm safely-pistol.

The man was bail refused to appear before Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 3 April 2024).
