Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after a number of home-made explosive devices were discovered in Waurn Ponds on Sunday morning.
Emergency services were initially called after an unknown device was set alight near a letter box outside a Monterey Drive address about 2.45am on 27 September.
The item was engulfed in flames but was quickly extinguished by fire authorities.
No one was injured during the incident.
Detectives returned to the scene later in the morning to continue their investigation and located another suspicious device in a nearby tree.
Officers from the Bomb Response Unit attended to examine the device and the immediate was cordoned off as a precaution before they deemed the area safe.
A 31-year-old Waurn Ponds man has since been arrested and interviewed by police.
Following the arrest, a total of seven home-made explosive devices have been located as part of the investigation.
The man has been charged with manufacture explosives, use explosives, and conduct endangering life.
He will face Geelong Magistrates Court this morning.
Investigators continue to process the scene and the investigation remains ongoing.
