Police charge man after weapon and ammunition seized at Nowra

A man will face court after he was allegedly found with a weapon and ammunition in the state's south.

About 2.30am yesterday (Sunday 16 February 2020), police attached to South Coast Police District saw a man lying on the ground on Park Road, East Nowra.

Police approached the man, who allegedly fled on foot.

Following a short foot pursuit, police found the man was allegedly carrying 17 rounds of ammunition and a shot gun.

The 43-year-old man was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station, where he was charged with possess loaded firearm public place, possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority and possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit/authority.

He was refused bail and is due to appear before Nowra Local Court today (Monday 17 February 2020).
