Police charge man after woman detained at Goodooga

A man has been charged after a woman was detained in the state's north west at the weekend.

Police have been told a man and woman, aged 45 and 43, were at a golf course near Goodooga between 12pm and 3pm Saturday (26 September 2020), where it is alleged the man assaulted the woman.

Police allege the man forced the woman into a utility where she was held against her will as he drove around the township.

The man drove to a home in Goodooga where the woman alerted police.

About 9.45am yesterday (Sunday 27 September 2020), officers attached to Central North Police District arrested a 45-year-old man on Bathurst Street, Brewarrina.

He was taken to Brewarrina Police Station where he has been charged with detain for advantage, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, and breach apprehended domestic violence order.

He has been bail refused to appear before Bourke Local Court on Thursday 10 December 2020.
