Police charge man after Woy Woy stabbing

A man has been charged after another man was allegedly stabbed on the Central Coast overnight.

Just after midnight (Sunday 26 January 2020), emergency services were called to a home in North Burge Road, Woy Woy, following reports a man had been stabbed.

Police have been told that a group of people were socialising in the Woy Woy area when a physical altercation began between two men, aged 33 and 35, on the corner of The Boulevarde and Brick Wharf Road.

The altercation continued as the group moved east down Brick Wharf Road, towards North Burge Road, where shortly after, the 33-year-old man suffered a serious stab wound to the abdomen.

Officers from Brisbane Water Police District attended and located the 33-year-old with serious injuries.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to Gosford Hospital in a critical condition.

The 35-year-old man was also treated at the scene for injuries to his hand and face before he was conveyed to Gosford Hospital in a stable condition.

Upon release from hospital, the 35-year-old was taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court via audio visual link today (Sunday 26 January 2020).

The 33-year-old remains in a stable condition in hospital.
