Police charge man over assault and intimidation - Cronulla

A man will face court next month on multiple charges following an altercation in Cronulla this morning.

About 10am (Friday 27 April 2019), during a press conference with a Federal Senator, a 19-year old man from Randwick is alleged to have made intimidatory comments to a female journalist.

When a male colleague attempted to intervene, it is alleged he was assaulted by the man.

The male cameraman had his equipment knocked to the ground and his shirt ripped during the alleged assault.

Officers from Sutherland Police Area Command arrived and arrested the man.

He was taken to Sutherland Police Station and charged with common assault, intimidation and behave in an offensive manner.

The man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 16 May 2019.
