Police charge man over child abuse material, firearm offences at Leeton

A man will face court today charged over the alleged possession of child abuse material and prohibited drugs in the state's Riverina region.

Acting on information, officers from Murrumbidgee Police District executed a search warrant at a home in Leeton about 12pm yesterday (Wednesday 10 March 2021).

During the search, investigators seized an unsecured air rifle, methylamphetamine (ice) and electronic devices.

All items seized will undergo forensic examination.

A 77-year-old man was arrested and taken to Leeton Police Station, where he was charged with possess child abuse material, possess unauthorised firearm, possess unregistered firearm, not keep firearm safely, and supply prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear in Griffith Local Court today (Thursday 11 March 2021).

Inquiries are continuing.
