Police charge man over large quantity of illegal fireworks

Detectives have charged a 27-year-old man after a large quantity of illegal fireworks were allegedly located in a house at Highland Park yesterday.

Around 11am yesterday as part of an ongoing investigation detectives executed a search warrant on a Trafalgar Street address where it is alleged approximately 600 individual fireworks, a laser pointer, a baton, scales and a small amount of cannabis were discovered.

A-27-year-old Highland Park man has been charged with two counts of possess restricted item and one count each of possess category H weapon, possess explosives, possess dangerous drug and possess utensil.

He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on November 19, 2019.
