Police charge man over Northbridge assault

Perth Detectives have charged a 19-year-old man after an incident in Northbridge on Saturday, 19 December 2020 in which an 18-year-old man received serious facial injuries.

It is alleged about 12.01am, two groups of people became involved in a physical altercation outside a restaurant located at the intersection of James and Lake Streets in Northbridge.

It is further alleged a 19-year-old man approached the 18-year-old male victim who was not involved in the altercation from behind and struck him to the back of the head and side of jaw with a right-hand punch.

It will be alleged the punch rendered the victim unconscious immediately and he fell face first onto the pavement, where he lay motionless for over 40 seconds. The offender allegedly did not render assistance and ran away.

Whilst the victim was unconscious on the pavement another male person kicked the victim in the head.

A 19-year-old man from Beeliar has been charged with Grievous Bodily Harm and is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on 21 January 2021.
