Police charge man over serious assault at Auburn

A man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged assault in Sydney's south west last month.

About 6.45pm on Wednesday 10 August 2022, a 43-year-old man was approached and allegedly assaulted by an unknown man in the driveway of a home on Rawson Street, Auburn.

The unknown man fled the scene on foot a short time later and emergency services were called.

Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command attended the location, established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

The injured man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to Westmead Hospital, suffering a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain. He has since been released.

Following inquiries, including a public appeal, a 36-year-old man was arrested at a home on Norval Street, Auburn today (Monday 26 September 2022).

He was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The man was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 27 September 2022).
