Police charge man over sexual and indecent assaults of two teenage girls in care

A man has been charged over the alleged aggravated sexual and indecent assaults of two teenage girls at an out-of-home care facility in Sydney.

In March 2019, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced Strike Force Bassi following reports two teenage girls – who are in care – had been sexually and indecently assaulted by a man known to them.

Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested a 43-year-old man at Campbelltown Police Station about 9am yesterday (Thursday 1 August 2019).

He was charged with 14 offences, including incite aggravated indecency- victim over 16 years and under authority of offender (x2), procure child for unlawful sexual activity, aggravated indecent assault- victim with cognitive impairment (x6), aggravated sexual assault- victim with cognitive impairment (x2), dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception, and indecent assault- person under 16 years (x2)

Police will allege in court that the man, who was employed as a security guard and carer at the facility, sexually abused one of the girls, then aged between 15 and 17, on multiple occasions between 2016 and 2019.

It will be further alleged he indecently assaulted the second girl, then aged 13, on two occasions in 2018.

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 2 August 2019).

Investigations are continuing.
