Police charge man over sexual assault of woman - Zetland

A man will appear in court today charged over the alleged sexual assault of a woman in Zetland earlier this year.

In September 2021, officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command commenced an investigation following a report a 53-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted by a man she met on a social media dating application.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 42-year-old man at Mascot Police Station about 3.45pm on Thursday 28 October 2021.

He was charged with sexual intercourse without consent.

Police will allege in court that the man sexually assaulted the woman at a unit at Zetland in August this year.

The man was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court today (Monday 15 November 2021).
