Police charge man over sexual assault of woman in 2019 - Dulwich Hill

A man has been charged following extensive inquiries into the alleged sexual assault of a woman in Sydney's inner west in 2019.

In the early hours of Saturday 9 November 2019, a 30-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man at her home on New Canterbury Road at Dulwich Hill.

It's alleged the man gained entry to the home before sexually assaulting her and stealing a number of items, including mobile phones, a laptop and cash.

Police were alerted and officers from Inner West Police Area Command established a crime scene at the home, which was forensically examined.

Detectives have conducted extensive inquiries since the incident and, after further information was received, arrested a man at his Punchbowl home just before 5.30pm yesterday (Thursday 31 December 2020).

The 30-year-old man was taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with aggravated sexual assault, and break and enter with intent.

He was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court today (Friday 1 January 2021), where he was remanded in custody to appear at Burwood Local Court on 11 January 2021.
