Police charge man over shootings, Coolangatta and Arundel

Police have charged a man in relation to two shooting incidents on the Gold Coast last month.

Around 5.10pm on June 4, a family was travelling in a vehicle along Tweed Street, Coolangatta, when a bullet entered their vehicle and grazed the neck of a 55-year-old man sitting in the front-passenger seat.

He was treated for a minor injury to his neck.

Around 3.45am on June 6, a firearm was discharged into the Arundel Police Beat. At least two shots were fired from a sedan with one bullet hitting the front glass door and another bullet hitting a police vehicle parked outside the Napper Road property.

No one was injured during this shooting.

Following comprehensive investigations, Detectives charged a 32-year-old Labrador man today.

In relation to the Coolangatta shooting he has been charged with one count each of dangerous conduct with weapon and assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed.

In relation to the Arundel shooting he has been charged with one count each of dangerous conduct with weapon and wilful damage of police property.

He is scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on August 9.

The 32-year-old has been remanded in custody since his arrest on June 9 in regard to an armed-robbery at Helensvale on June 3.

He was arrested on June 9 following a siege at Rimu Place, Nerang, which started on June 8.
