Police charge man over stabbing at Wollongong

A man will appear in court today charged over an alleged stabbing in the Illawarra earlier this morning.

About 6.15am today (Tuesday 22 June 2021), police were called to a home on Birch Street, East Corrimal, after reports a man had been injured after an altercation with a man, known to him.

Officers from Wollongong Police District attended and found a 51-year-old man suffering multiple stab wounds to his back.

He was treated by paramedics and taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.

A 41-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station, where he was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today.
