Police charge man with drug offences - Oxley Police District

A man has been charged following an investigation into the alleged supply of prohibited drugs in the state's north-west.

In April 2020, officers from Oxley Police District's Proactive Crime Team (PCT), established Strike Force Catkin to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs in the Werris Creek and Tamworth area.

About 9.20am today (Thursday 7 January 2021), strike force officers arrested a 31-year-old man at a home on Henry Street, Werris Creek.

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug, supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, supply cannabis, deal with property proceeds of crime and take/detain person in company with intent to obtain advantage.

He was refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court tomorrow (Friday 8 January 2021).

Oxley Police District's Crime Manager, Acting Inspector Jason Darcy, said people who may have information on the supply of prohibited drugs in the Werris Creek or Tamworth area are urged to come forward.

"We want to get prohibited drugs off our streets and will continue to target those who supply drugs in our community," A/Insp Darcy said.
