Police charge man with drug supply, trespass, ammunition possession at Ryde

A man has been charged with drug supply, trespassing and ammunition possession in Sydney's northwest yesterday.

About 1pm (Thursday 6 February 2020), police were called to a unit on Waterloo Road, Macquarie Park after the owner of the property complained that a tenant was refusing to leave after the lease term had expired.

Officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command attended the location and escorted the man from the premises.

The 32-year-old man allegedly became aggressive and police restrained him before searching his luggage.

Police will allege the search revealed several rounds of ammunition, bags containing white powder suspected to be steroids, multiple credit cards under various names, multiple interstate drivers' licences, motorbike registration plates and dyes.

The man was arrested and taken to Ryde Police Station.

Once there, the man complained of shoulder pain and he was attended to by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

About 6.40pm, the man allegedly attempted to escape custody and was stopped outside by a police officer who suffered minor injuries as a result of a struggle with the man.

The man was returned to the holding cell, where it is alleged he resisted a forensic procedure and assaulted a male constable.

The man was charged with trespass, possess ammunition without permit/licence, supply prohibited drug - steroids, supply prohibited drugs, escape police custody, assault police officer in execution of duty, intimidate police officer in execution of duty and resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty.

He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Friday 7 February 2020).
