Police charge man with firearm and intimidation offences at Muswellbrook

A man has been charged with firearm and intimidation offences in the state's Hunter Valley.

About 5.30am today (Monday 13 September 2021), officers from Hunter Valley Police District were called to Jersey Place at Muswellbrook, following reports a man had allegedly been threatened with a firearm.

Police were told a 38-year-old man allegedly pointed a firearm at another man following a verbal dispute.

It is alleged the man also made verbal threats toward a woman, who is known to him.

The firearm was later found to be a gel blaster, and no one was injured during the incident.

The 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Muswellbrook Police Station, where he allegedly made threats toward a police officer.

He was subsequently charged with intimidate police officer in execution of duty, possess unauthorised pistol, armed with intent commit indictable offence, and two counts stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm.

The man was refused bail and appeared today at Singleton Local Court, where he was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Muswellbrook Local Court on Monday 27 September 2021.
