Police charge man with sexual touching at Richmond

A man will face court after he allegedly sexually touched a teenage girl in the state's north.

About 5pm on Saturday 20 August 2022, police will allege a 53-year-old man was driving his car in Goonellabah when he offered a 15-year-old girl a lift, which she accepted.

Police have been told the man drove to a nearby skate park and sexually touched her.

It is further alleged the man picked the girl up again in his car on Sunday 5 September 2022 and sexually touched her while driving around Lismore.

The teen returned home and reported the matter to officers from the Richmond Police District who commenced and investigation with the assistance of Ballina Child Abuse Squad.

About 7pm on Tuesday (6 September 2022), officers attached to Lismore Detectives arrested the man at Wollongbar and conveyed him to Lismore Police Station.

He was charged with intentionally sexually touch child > 10 years and

He was refused bail appear before Lismore Local Court today (Wednesday 7 September 2022).
