Police Charge Teen Over Machete Assault At Blacktown

A teenage boy will face court today after allegedly assaulting a man with a machete overnight.

Just after midnight (Sunday 4 January 2026), emergency services were called to Patrick Street, Blacktown following reports of an assault.

On arrival, officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command found a man – aged 31 – sitting in a Toyota sedan with a laceration to his arm.

Police were told an unknown person – armed with a machete – allegedly assaulted the man in the car before leaving in an unknown direction.

The man was treated at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

About 2.45am, police arrested a 17-year-old boy at a home on Valeria Street, Toongabbie.

He was taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police will allege in court the teen stabbed the man – who was a rideshare driver – after he refused to let the teen connect his device to the vehicle's Bluetooth.

The teen was refused bail to appear before Children's Court today.
