Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged five teenagers after two men were assaulted and stabbed in Southbank early this morning.
Emergency services were first called to the scene following reports of a brawl on Yarra Promenade about 1.50am.
It's alleged the victims, a father and his adult son, were walking with other family members when the group of youths passed and bumped into one of their group.
A short verbal interaction occurred before the teens allegedly set upon the pair.
The victims, aged 23 and 47, were both physically assaulted and stabbed.
The pair were taken to hospital with suspected non-life-threatening injuries.
The alleged offenders who were seen running from the scene were all arrested shortly after by responding police.
A 15-year-old boy from the Broadmeadows area was charged with intentionally cause injury x 2, affray, assault in company x 2 and assault with weapon x 2.
He was remanded in custody to appear before a children's court today.
A 17-year-old boy from the Craigieburn area was charged with affray and assault in company.
He was also charged with criminal damage and possess a controlled weapon without excuse relating to an unrelated incident.
A 14-year-old boy from the Broadmeadows area was charged with affray, recklessly cause injury, assault in company x 2 and assault by kicking.
Both were bailed to appear before a children's court at a later date.
A 16-year-old boy from the Greensborough area and a 14-year-old boy from the Broadmeadows area were both released pending summons.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have filmed the altercation to please come forward.
