Three young people have been charged following a pursuit in the Hunter Valley earlier today.
About 7.50am today (Wednesday 30 April 2025), police attempted to stop a Volkswagen SUV on Wollombi Road, Muswellbrook, that had allegedly been reported stolen from Scone.
When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued to Denman where it was terminated due to the manner of driving.
Police monitored the vehicle until it stopped on Bengalla Road, Bengalla, and three occupants allegedly ran from the vehicle.
A short time later, during a search of a nearby mining area, the alleged driver – a 14-year-old girl – and an 11-year-old boy, were arrested.
The third occupant – a 13-year-old boy – was arrested at a nearby property, and all three were taken to Muswellbrook Police Station.
The driver was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive at speed, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, and break and enter intend to commit serious indictable offence.
Both passengers were charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and break and enter intend to commit serious indictable offence.
All three were granted strict conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Wednesday 28 May 2025.
