Police charge three after search warrant at Walgett

Two men and a woman have been charged after police executed a search warrant at a house in Walgett yesterday.

About 7.30am (Tuesday 11 May 2021), officers from the Walgett Proactive Crime Team executed a search warrant at a house in Pitt Street.

A 38-year-old man, wanted on a warrant in relation to a robbery in company, was arrested as he attempted to flee the house.

Police allegedly located and seized cannabis and methylamphetamine, mobile phones, a NSW Police issue torch, and a Honda motorcycle.

While police were conducting the search a 20-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman arrived at the house. They were both wanted on outstanding warrants and were arrested.

The three people were taken to Walgett Police Station.

The older man was charged with robbery in company, assault, possession of a prohibited drug and fail to appear in accordance with bail acknowledgment.

The woman was charged with destroy or damage property, assault (DV), resist officer in the execution of duty, and fail to appear in accordance with bail acknowledgment.

They were both refused bail and appeared in Walgett Local Court yesterday (Tuesday 11 May 2021).

The younger man was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm in company. He was granted conditional bail and is expected to appear in Tamworth Local Court on Monday 24 May 2021.

Investigations are continuing.
