Police Charge Three Men Over Street Brawl - Merrylands

Three men have been charged over their alleged involvement during a street brawl in Sydney's west earlier this week.

About 1.30pm on Sunday (22 March 2026), police were called to a home on Marks Street, Merrylands, following reports of a brawl.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and were told a number of men were involved in a brawl on a nearby nature strip.

During the brawl several men were allegedly assaulted with knives, batons, poles and a shovel by the group before they ran from the scene prior to police arrival.

Two men – aged 21 and 23 – were treated for stab wounds to their back and legs, while a 57-year-old man was assessed for facial injuries.

All three were taken to Westmead Hospital in stable conditions for further treatment.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, police arrested two men – aged 27 and 21 – at a home on Woodland Road, Chester Hill, about 5.20pm yesterday (Monday 23 March 2026), before taking both to Granville Police Station.

A third man – aged 61 – was also arrested at Granville Police Station.

All three were charged with wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm (DV) and affray.

The older man also received two additional charges for assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV) and common assault (DV).

Police will allege in court the brawl occurred as part of an ongoing historic family conflict.

All three men were refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Tuesday 24 March 2026).

Investigations to locate the other men involved in the alleged brawl continue.
