Police charge three with firearms offences

Three people will appear in court today after police seized a firearm at Paralowie overnight.

About 1.30am on Tuesday 2 August, two men ran off from police in Coogee Avenue, Paralowie. They were both located a short time later in the same street.

One of the men had gotten into a vehicle, with a woman. Police searched the area and located a sawn-off .22 calibre rifle in a bin on the roadside.

One of the men was also found in possession of .22 calibre ammunition.

A 22-year-old Woodville South man, a 36-year-old Kilburn man and a 36-year-old Kilburn woman were arrested and charged with firearms offences including aggravated possess firearm without a licence and possess insecure ammunition.

The Woodville South man was also charged with breaching a firearms prohibition order.

All three were refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.

Following the arrests, Northern District Police searched three premises at Woodville South and Kilburn and located more .22 calibre ammunition and shotgun rounds. Police also located Suboxone strips and 250ml of a liquid suspected to be a controlled drug. Investigations are continuing and further charges are possible.
