Police charge two after assaulting police - Oran Park

A man will face court today, one of two people charged after allegedly assaulting police in Sydney's south-west overnight.

About 12.50am this morning (Sunday 12 June 2022), officers attached to Camden Police Area Command attended a home on Leffler Street, Oran Park, regarding a noise complaint.

Police spoke to the occupants, requesting the music be turned down. A woman initially refused, becoming argumentative before a man complied with the request.

As officers returned to their vehicle, they were approached by the woman who continued to argue with the officers.

A man, holding a pool cue, ran down the driveway towards officers allegedly threw the pool cue at a male constable before throwing punches towards him.

OC spray was deployed before further occupants from the home became involved.

Further police attended to assist, and the woman is alleged to have kicked a male sergeant in the shin. As the constable attempted to arrest the woman, the man allegedly kicked him in the face.

The 39-year-old man and 38-year-old woman were restrained and arrested. They were both taken to Narellan Police Station.

The constable suffered a laceration to his face and was treated by paramedics.

The man was charged with intimidate police officer in execution of duty, assault police officer in execution of duty, resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, and armed with intent to commit indictable offence.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (12 June 2022).

The woman was charged with two counts of assault police officer in execution of duty and resist officer in execution of duty.

She was granted strict bail conditions and is set to appear at Picton Local Court on Wednesday 6 July 2022.
