Monash Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged two teenagers following an alleged aggravated burglary in Ashwood overnight, where an Audi was stolen and followed through multiple suburbs.
It is alleged a group of offenders arrived on Ashwood Drive in a white SUV, before three teenagers broke into a property about 1.55am.
They allegedly stole a Audo A1 and fled in the vehicle.
The car was spotted by police a short time later.
Air Wing followed the vehicle along the Monash Freeway at alleged high speeds, before stop sticks were deployed near the Heatherton Road exit.
The Audi continued along Princes Highway towards Narre Warren, before it was allegedly dumped and the three occupants fled on foot.
A 16-year-old boy and two 17-year-old boys, all from the Cardinia area, were arrested on Strawbent Rise.
The 16-year-old was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being bitten by a police dog.
The Audi was later recovered on Valley Fair Drive.
One of the 17-year-old boys was charged with home invasion, theft of motor vehicle, theft and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.
The other 17-year-old boy was charged with home invasion, theft of motor vehicle and theft.
They were both remanded to appear at a children's court today.
The 16-year-old boy remains in hospital under police guard.
Investigations are ongoing into the circumstances of the incidents, and whether more offenders were involved in the aggravated burglary.
