Police charge two after stabbing at Nelson Bay

Two people have been charged over an alleged stabbing in the Hunter earlier this month.

Just after 1.30am on Sunday (13 March 2022), emergency services were called to Donald Street, Nelson Bay, following reports of a brawl.

A short time later, officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District attended a home on Shoal Bay Road, where they located a 41-year-old man suffering a number of stab wounds to his back.

Officers assisted the man before he was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition, he has since been released.

Detectives commenced an investigation into how the man came to be injured.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a man and a woman – both aged 26 – at a home on Dungaree Way, Raymond Terrace, about 8.30am today (Tuesday 22 March 2022).

They were both taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station and charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Both were refused bail to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court today (Tuesday 22 March 2022).
