Police charge two men after break and enter and stabbing - Mascot

Two men have been charged after a man suffered stab wounds following a break and enter at a unit block in Sydney's south last month.

About 6am on Wednesday 29 December 2022, officers attached South Sydney Police Area Command were called to a unit on John Street, Mascot, where they located a man with multiple wounds to his upper body.

Police will allege two unknown men forced entry to the unit, when the 61-year-old man – and only occupant of the unit – confronted the men.

An altercation ensued and the man was stabbed a number of times.

The two men fled the scene a short time later, taking items including cash and jewellery.

The injured man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious condition. He has since been released.

A crime scene was established at the unit and the surrounding neighbourhood was canvassed.

Following inquiries, about 9.45am yesterday (Wednesday 5 January 2022), a 23-year-old man was arrested at a home on Ferry Lane, Nowra.

The man was taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with specially aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – wound.

The man appeared at Wollongong Local Court today, where he was refused bail, to reappear at Wollongong Local Court tomorrow (Friday 7 January 2022).

About 11.40am today (Thursday 6 January 2022), a 22-year-old man was arrested on Wentworth Avenue, Sydney.

He was taken to Mascot Police Station, where he was charged with specially aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – wound.

The man was refused bail, to appear at Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Friday 7 January 2022).
