Two men have been charged after a pursuit in Sydney's south.
About 7pm yesterday (Saturday 25 July 2026), officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command attempted to stop a white Honda Jazz suspected of displaying cloned number plates along Bath Road, Kirrawee.
When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop a pursuit was initiated.
The Honda was pursued into Chakola Place where it will be further alleged that that the vehicle came to a stop.
As a male constable was approaching the Honda from the front, it will be alleged that the vehicle drove towards the constable, where the officer was forced to jump clear of the Honda to avoid being struck.
Police re-engaged in a pursuit where the Honda allegedly crashed into a parked truck on Medika Place where two males ran from the vehicle.
It will be alleged that upon exiting the vehicle the driver discarded a bag into nearby bushes and was detained by officers after a short foot pursuit where he allegedly attempted to physically resist arrest.
Police will allege the bag contained heroin and methylamphetamine along with a quantity of cash.
The passenger was arrested on Gundain Road, also following a foot pursuit.
The men – both aged 32 – were taken to Sutherland Police Station.
Inquiries established that the vehicle had been stolen whilst parked along Anzac Parade, Kingsford, sometime between 11pm on Monday 8 June 2026 and 9am on Tuesday 9 June 2026.
Police will allege that the driver was the holder of a disqualified learners licence and had an outstanding arrest warrant for breaching a drug order.
The driver was charged with 15 offences including:
- Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
- Use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road
- Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner
- Learner not accompanied by driver/police officer/tester
- Use registrable vehicle not display authorised number-plates
- Use class A vehicle displaying misleading etc number-plate
- Use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention
- Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty
- Deal with property proceeds of crime < $100000 & < $5000
- Supply prohibited drug >small & <=indictable quantity
- Possess prohibited drug (four counts)
The passenger was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and take part supply prohibited drug <=small quantity.
Both men were refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 10 later today (Sunday 26 July 2026).
