Two men will face court today after being charged with supplying heroin across the CBD utilising the public transport system.
In January 2019 police attached to the Transport Action Group North/Central commenced an investigation into the supply of heroin throughout the Sydney CBD.
Two men were identified as utilising the public transport network including the bus, train and light rail systems in an apparent effort to try and avoid detection.
Investigators identified that the men were conducting numerous deals each day at Museum and Central Railway Stations, on the Elizabeth and Oxford Street bus routes and the light rail system to Pyrmont and Broadway.
About 7.30am on Monday 29 April 2019 officers executed a search warrant at a unit in Devonshire Street at Surry Hills.
Police arrested two men aged 28 and 57, and seized a quantity of heroin, phones, ledgers and other drug paraphernalia from the premises.
The two men where conveyed to Surry Hills Police Station where the 28-year-old Indian national was found to be unlawfully in Australia, after his student visa was cancelled in 2016.
The 57-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, supply prohibited drug-small quantity (x 5), supply prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug.
The 28-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug-small quantity (x 2) and possess prohibited drug.
Both men were refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Tuesday 30 April 2019).
Police continue with their inquiries into the incident.
