A man and woman have been charged after an investigation into the suspected serious assault of a man in Toormina earlier this year.
About 5.40am on Monday 2 February 2026, emergency services were called to Anderson Street, near Hobbs Crescent, at Toormina, after a seriously injured man was located by a member of the public.
The 27-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a significant head injury before being taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital in a critical condition.
The man remains in hospital undergoing further treatment for his injuries.
Coffs Harbour Detectives established Strike Force Larsson to investigate the incident and suspected assault of the man.
Following a public appeal and extensive inquiries, about 4.30pm on Friday 12 June 2026, detectives attended Crown Street, Bellingen, and arrested a 38-year-old man.
He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder and tamper with evidence with intent to mislead judicial tribunal.
He was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Local Court 1 on Saturday 13 June 2026 where he was further refused bail to reappear before Coffs Harbour Local Court on Tuesday 11 August 2026.
Following further inquiries, about 9.30am today (Tuesday 30 June 2026), detectives attended a property on Courtney Close, Toormina, where they arrested a 25-year-old woman.
She was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where she was charged with being an accessory after the fact to cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder.
She was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Local Court 1 today (Tuesday 30 June 2026) where she was further refused bail to reappear before Coffs Harbour Local Court on Wednesday 26 August 2026.
