Police charge woman after man found with stab wounds to chest - Warrawong

A woman is due to appear in court today charged after a man suffered stab wounds to his chest and abdomen at Warrawong overnight.

It was just after 9.30pm (Tuesday 28 December 2021), that emergency services were called to Todd Street, Warrawong, following reports of a stabbing.

On arrival, officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District found a 69-year-old man inside a home unit suffering stab wounds to his chest and abdomen.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was airlifted to St George Hospital where he remains in a serious condition after undergoing surgery.

Police established a crime scene and a short time later, arrested a 31-year-old woman arrested nearby.

She was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where she has been charged with wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm (DV), and reckless wounding.

She's been refused bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Wednesday 29 December 2021).
